Pastor Rich McDermott  /   Director

The Rev. Rich McDermott has served as a Presbyterian Pastor for 44 years in six places: Full-time positions were in Winter Haven, Florida (5 yrs.), Mexico City, Mexico (6 yrs.), Fort Collins, Colorado (23 yrs.), Omaha, Nebraska (interim-2 yrs.), and Arlington, Texas (6 yrs.).  He is currently retired (as of Jan. 2021) and living in Littleton, Colorado where he leads three Bible Studies, and preaches occasionally.

Pastor Rich grew up in Colorado and committed his life to Jesus Christ in 1973 at the age of 19.  He graduated from Colorado College in 1976 (BA – Business Administration).  After joining and interning at First Presbyterian Church of Colorado Springs, Rich attended and graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1979 (MDiv – Practical Theology).

Rich is married (1980) to Betsy Kenyon McDermott whom he met at seminary.  Betsy is a missionary kid who grew up in Costa Rica and now is a retired medical Spanish-English interpreter.  They have five adult children and nine grandchildren.  Rich and Betsy love to travel, spend time with their grandkids, read and hike.

Rich, along with Board Director Erika Nossokoff, helped to connect his Fort Collins congregation to Faith Alive in 2005.  Rich travelled with his daughter, Cathy to see the Faith Alive Clinic and Hospital in 2007 as a part of his sabbatical.  Cathy was so inspired by Dr. Chris and Dr. Mercy, that she decided to go into medicine, and today serves as a cardio-thoracic surgeon in Loveland, CO.  Rich is excited to begin (2023) serving as a Board Director for Faith Alive USA.  A key verse for Rich is Ephesians 4:15: “But speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in every way into Him who is the head, into Christ….”
